ROBINSON, Lloyd A., "Robbie," Ret. Major U.S. Marine Corps, of Glen Allen, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Lloyd was born on March 12, 1941 in New Bedford, Mass. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Robinson; his mother, Faith Tuell Robinson; and his stepmother, Ann Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Robinson; his three children, Kathy Stamatelos and her husband, Jimmy Stamatelos, Scott Robinson and his wife, Jennifer Robinson, and Paul Robinson; four grandchildren, Ryan Stamatelos, Jeffrey Stamatelos, Christina Stamatelos, and Ella Marie Robinson; and two stepchildren, Bryan Ready and Katherine Ready Reznikov and her husband, Pavel Reznikov. Lloyd's service in the United States Marine Corps spanned 26 years to include a tour of duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis, several combat tours in Vietnam, and work for the Naval Investigative Service, as well as for the Marine Corps counterintelligence (Marine Corps CI) before he retired as a major in 1986. After retirement, he went on to become a security consultant and a business owner. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, Va. 23060. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 4825 Pouncey Tract Road, Glen Allen, Va. 23059, with a reception to follow in the Shady Grove Church Fellowship Hall. Interment will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, 3800 Fettler Park Dr., Suite 104, Dumfries, Va. 22025.

Jackie and Paul: We are so sorry to hear about your loss. We just found out this morning and feel so sad and dissapointed that we were unable to attend his funeral service. We'll always remember how kind and generous Lloyd was throughout the years, especially to Ian. We will miss him. Love, Peggy, Michael and Ian

Jackie,

I am so sorry for your loss. To know Lloyd was to love him. I enjoyed working with him and will hold those memories with me forever. We had a special team and he was the leader always there to support and encourage. He was always optimistic and uplifting if one of us was down. He was a true Marine!
