JONES, Lois Philyaw, 64, of Midlothian, died Saturday, May 1, 2010. She was the wife of David L. Jones Sr. Mrs. Jones was born Monday, December 31, 1945 in Lynchburg, Va., a daughter of the late James Stokes Philyaw and the late Toie Myers Philyaw. Lois was an E.C. Glass graduate, class of 1964, and Lynchburg College, where she earned her nursing degree in 1991. She then worked as a registered nurse at Virginia Baptist Hospital in the mother baby unit, Avante Nursing Home, and Chippenham Hospital in Richmond. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Diane Jones of Tappahannock, Va., David L. Jones Jr. of Midlothian, Va., Robyn J. Zatkulak and her husband, Bryan, of Moseley, Va.; her two grandchildren, Sydney and Zachary Zatkulak, both of Moseley, Va.; and several nieces. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Lung Association, 9221 Forest Hill Road, Richmond, Va. 23235. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family, 434-237-9424. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: tharpfuneralhome.com.
