Lou touched my heart in so many ways, that even today, I find it difficult to put into words to describe the person I grew to love over the past year. Taking care of her was an experience I will never forget. She never stopped teaching!!! I promised I would be there by her side as long as she needed me. She was a strong individual.

It was hard for her to say, "I need help." I hope that she knew that she gave to me as much as I gave to her. I lost my father years back and she gave me a reason to care again.

I tried so hard to make everything she wanted or needed to be acceptable in her eyes. It was a time in both of our lives that we needed each other. The time
I shared with her gave her independence and valuable time with the people she loved so dearly.

Her special friends...a trio...Jean, Gaye and Sally would always gather when they could for a luncheon on Tuesdays. Robyn was a wonderful, devoted daughter! Bob, her son, called her Lou many times! Her grandchildren were the apples of her eyes! All boys of course! Sandy, what a faithful companion! Lou loved that dog! Her other devoted companion, was Jack, her husband. This was her world in her last years. I will always carry her in my heart....and think back about the funny things that she did to make my day!!! I love you...Thelma!!! Yes...I know you are cutting your eyes and looking down on me on that one!

To those who were close to her, I feel Louise is one of those people, no matter where you are or what you are doing, she is nearby..all you have to do is close your eyes and feel her presence! It may be that butterfly...or a gentle breeze against your face, a friendly cat...all you have to do is believe!!!!!!!!

I remember Mrs Cameron as Mrs Helwig and remember her fondly. She was a wonderfully compassionate teacher and one who encouraged and loved her students. Our prayers are with you in your grief.

I was shocked to see Mrs. Cameron's obituary in the Mechanicsville Local. I remeber her from Battlefield when she was Miss Dooley and she and Mrs. Mitchell (then Miss Power) were my home room teachers in my sophomore year at BPHS. I also knew her as Mrs. Helwig at Lee Davis. She was such a sweet lady and I know she will be missed. May God comfort the family both now and in the days ahead.

I remember! Oh so many years ago and in the 60s but so many people in our lives were important! Every contact effects us.

Mrs Helwig taught me to type (personal not business) and I am not very good and can not spell. She accepted my faults and encourage me! Thank you, you made a difference!!!!

Ours prayer are with you and the family and it is so good to share that no matter how small or large a contribution it can be life changing. I typed this and it had not been for her I could not have! I try to keep up with my staff, still can't spell and still slow but better than one finger typing!

The world is only getting larger and typing on a handheld or computer seems so insignificant but so important in our world today. Advancement and advance thinking!

My sympathy but I will alway remember. (Sorry I am still bad at typing (better now or so we think) and I stll can not Spell (Typo or Spelling or something Spell check missed!!) Without her help I could have been behind!

Was very sorry to hear about Mrs. Cameron's death. I knew her as Mrs. Helwig when I went to Lee Davis back in the 60's. Am sure she will be missed by her family and friends and all those she taught over the years.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you mourn Mrs. Cameron's passing. I had the pleasure of having her as a typing teacher at Lee-Davis in the 60's. She was a great teacher and thoughtful person. I will always remember the time I was unable to take a typing test with my class because of an injured finger. I had to take the test another day alone and because the room was so quiet, I found it difficult to type. She obviously felt my pain and sat down beside me and started to type, too. She knew the sound of someone else typing would make it easier for me. What a kind thing to do!! She did her job well here on earth. No doubt God has welcomed her with open arms.

Warmly,

Mrs. Cameron (Helwig) was also my General Business teacher at Lee-Davis. She was so kind and she did have such a wonderful smile. She had a wonderful way of teaching her students and was a great influence on all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Whenever I think of Louise, I can hear her incredible laugh. She became my friend when I arrived at Lee-Davis High School in 1971 and remained one for all these years.

Louise was one of the "3 teachers who volunteered on the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden mailing committee except on golf day". She was always ready to help with a smile and we will all miss her.

To the entire family what a loss of a Great Teacher whom I loved during my days at Lee-Davis H.S. She taught me in a General Business class my senior year. Mrs.Helwig and my mother both were in a teaher's sorority and college classmates I believe.
May God be with the entire family and freinds during this time and going forward. Our prayers are with you. Billy Beasley

Louise and I were close childhood and high school friends. She was maid of honor at our wedding. Our youngest daughter, Amy Louise, was named after her. She will forever remain in our hearts. Even as we grieve over her loss, we know she had gone to receive the reward promised by our Lord.

Mrs. Helwig was well loved and respected by students and fellow faculty members at Lee-Davis. I was blessed to have her for homeroom one year, and she could add sunshine to a rainy day with her great smile. She had such great rapport with her students and was always so much fun. She touched so many lives in those many years at Lee-Davis.

My Mom was also known as LOUISE HELWIG when she taught at Lee Davis High School. She had a big heart full of love, she was a great teacher, a wonderful friend, a loving wife and the BEST MOM in the world to her kids, grandkids and her beloved dog Sandy. She touched so many lives in so many ways and I thank her for being herself right to the end of her earthly life. I know she will always be watching over me from Heaven. SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED! I will always love you and carry you in my heart. Thanks for being my Mom...
