My first memory is how he loved me unconditionally. Norman loved to drive to Charlestown, West Virginia, and spend the day. We enjoyed the cruise to the Bahamas. It was lovely. We loved to shop for shoes. We loved to experience new restaurants. Norman loved to give me advice about work-related issues. I learned to stay quiet until I knew the answer to a question.

To the Goodrich Family:

I did not know about Norman's transition to his new life until after his homegoing service had taken place. I found out in early September. I want to say that he was a very nice and kind gentleman. I remember him most because he often served as a substitute and drove bus #46 for Brunswick Senior High. He took his job seriously and was a very responsible driver. Norman will be missed and I am glad I looked into finding his guest book to express my sincere condolences.

It is very hard knowing that you are not here with us anymore. But when I get sad at work or at home I look at your picture and I see that big smile and I know you are smiling down on me. I often sing your song (I Got A Long Way To Go To Be Like The Lord). When Im in the car thinking about you which that make me feel better.

Joy, I am sorry to hear of Norman's passing. He and I were co-workers at Petersburg and shared an interest in real estate. Norman would often share stories of his challenges at work and offered me sound advice and guidance.
Norman always seemed to have an inner peace knowing he had the strength to persevere. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a story to tell. He was a great friend and will be missed. May God bless you and your family.

Dr. Joy,
Keep the light shining for Norman. He was certainly the epitome of a strong enduring person whom I had the pleasure of knowing for 12+ years. There was never a dull moment with Norman. I can remember just last year when Norman gave Larry (my friend) a pep talk about marriage and how it is the best thing when you are with someone you truly love. I know he truly loved you (Joy) and he made that known. We are here for you through this difficult time as I know Norman would want us to be. May God bless you and heaven shine upon you.

Joy,

"DEATH LEAVES A HEARTACHE DIFFICULT TO HEAL; YOUR LOVE FOR NORMAN LEAVES SWEET MEMORIES NO ONE CAN STEAL."

I heard this morning of Norman's passing and am deeply saddened. Norman was in my van pool.. and he will be missed. The last time I saw Norman, he bought ice cream sandwiches for him and I.. we ate them before anyone else arrived because we were not to eat on the van...we said how good they were. I called Norman several times while he was out sick but he never complained to me just how sick he was. I know one thing, he always mentioned you and his love for you. He said the two of you always had so much fun and love. He loved you and was looking forward to his retirement so you two could travel. Joy, you were his sunshine..his eveything. You and your family are in my thougths and prayers, My sincere sympathy.

Angel Blessings,

Joy and Family:

God looked around his Garden,
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw that the road was getting rough,
And the hills are hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered “Peace be thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
Unknown

May your fond memories of Norman sustain you in the days ahead.
