GRUNDY, Ralph Rodelle, 90, of Richmond, Va., died Thursday, October 29, 2009. Born in Taylorville, Ill., Christian County, August 25, 1919, he was the son of the late Ralph Lowder Grundy and Josephine Marie Funderburk Grundy; brother of the late Charles Duane Grundy; and father-in-law of the late Constance D. Grundy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Alice Vernell Daniel Grundy. He is survived by his daughter, Diane G. Eddleton and her husband, Earnest, of Ashland, Va.; son, Roger R. Grundy of Richmond, Va.; grandson, Craig D. Eddleton and wife, Jeannine of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Gloria G. Van Peeren of Lakewood, Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Margaret Alice, David, James and Elliott Grace Eddleton, all of Christiansburg, Va. Mr. Grundy was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran who retired from Overnight Transportation Company and was a longtime employee of Carter Brothers and was a member of the Hi-Plane Racing Pigeon Club for many years. The family will receive friends at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
