Rex O. JONES Jr.

JONES, Rex O. Jr., joined his Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, after a full life of 93 years. Although saddened by his departure, his family members are consoled by the fact that Rex had led such a good life, dedicated to his family, church, and friends, that his place with the Lord has long been assured. Rex was born in Richmond, Virginia June 19, 1916 to Rex O. Jones and Annie Lefebvre Jones. He lived in the Richmond area his entire life except for the time he spent in the Army as a Captain during WWII. His business career was highlighted by his rise to the presidency of Phillips Machinery Company. Socializing with business associates, friends and family was something that Rex thoroughly enjoyed and did with a unique ability to bring out the best in everyone. This was demonstrated by the many long and close relationships that Rex maintained over his many years. Saint Matthews Episcopal Church was a passion for Rex, whether he was serving as a church board member, usher, Sea Scout assistant, maintaining the rose garden, attending the many men's group functions or helping establish the memorial garden, the church was a prominent and continual part of the joy in Rex's life. A few years after the passing of his beloved wife of 56 years, Hallie Bowles Jones, Rex married Marjorie Moseley. This late-in-life marriage for the two of them was one that Rex cherished as ardently as a teenager's first love much to the delight of both Marge's and Rex's children. Rex was predeceased by his brother, Hubert "Buddy" Jones. Rex is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Moseley Jones; and her five children, Danny, Dale, Robin, Lee and Wayne. Rex is also survived by his and Hallie's children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. These include: Rex Orion Jones III and wife, Becky Cockrell Jones, of Heathsville, Virginia, and their children, Laura Jones Shackleford and Gregory Orion Jones, and two great- granddaughters; Stephen Roy Jones and wife, Millie Lotocka Jones, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Steve's children, Eric Stephen Jones and Kelly Jones Repko, and two great- grandsons. The memorial service will be held at Saint Matthews Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. There will be a reception after the ceremony in the church Parish Hall.
