Robert Carter

CARTER, Robert L., 76, of Mechanicsville, died peacefully on October 16, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Daisy Schools Carter; as well as his two daughters, Teresa Brown and Susan Young; his sons-in-law, Rohn Brown and Tom Young; two grandsons, Ryan Brown and Michael Young; two sisters, Dorothy Shockley and Judy Minor, and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Carter; mother, Mary Carter; brothers, Harry Carter Jr. and Woodrow Carter; and brothers-in-law, Odell Shockley, Phil Minor, Earnest Schools and Jimmy Adams. Robert retired after 48 years of dedicated service with David R. McGeorge Car Company. He was a member of Mizpah Methodist Church. He lived his life by setting an example of honesty, dignity, and respect for hard work. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mechanicsville chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Upper King and Queen Baptist Church Cemetery, Helmet.
