Rev. Robert Dale Harmon

HARMON, The Rev. Robert Dale, 71, died October 2, 2010 at his home in Richmond, Virginia. He was the son of the late Earle and Evelena Harmon, of North Carolina, and was born in Gaston County, N.C. on February 5, 1939. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nanette M. Harmon of Richmond; as well as his daughter, Susan Harmon Brault of Richmond. He is also survived by his brother, Steven E. Harmon; and his nephew, Michael Harmon, both of North Carolina. He delighted in his three grandchildren, Olivia, Andrew and Lucas. He attended Lenoir Rhyne College, School of Theology, University of the South at Sewanee, and the University of Georgia for his graduate and doctoral work. He was ordained Deacon in 1965 and Priest of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Western North Carolina in 1966. He served churches in Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia during his 43-year ministry to Christ and his church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, located at 520 N. Boulevard. The interment will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, he requested that donations be made to St. Barnabas Church in Richmond or the American Cancer Society.
