HOPKINS, Sally Morris, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on April 20, 2010 after an extended illness. Sally was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 15, 1965. She was raised in Richmond, Virginia, graduating from St. Catherine's School in Richmond and then the University of Virginia, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She is survived by her husband, John David Hopkins III; two sons, John David Hopkins IV and Foster Morris Hopkins. Sally was a loving wife and devoted mother. She loved tennis, yoga, and dance, and her love of photography led her to found Sally Hopkins Photography, where she delighted in photographing families and children. Sally will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and wonderful relationships with many dear friends who, in turn, were of great support during her extended illness. The family is grateful for the skillful and compassionate care of the doctors and staff at Duke University Hospital and Piedmont Hospital and, in recent weeks, Hospice Atlanta. A memorial service celebrating Sally's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 23, at First Presbyterian Church, 1328 Peachtree Street, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30309. We are so very sad to hear of Sally's passing. I had a wonderful time volunteering alongside Sally at Speech School while our boys were in school together there. I will always remember her warmth and strength and courage and sense of humor. We are all better because we knew her. May her spirit flourish through you and the beautiful photographs she left behind. Please accept our sincere condolences to you and the boys. May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Our heartfelt sympathies are extended to David, the boys and all the Hopkins family. I only knew Sally through her photographs and website, which Evi had shared with me (her cousin) and the Harry family. Only a genuine and truly beautiful person could take such wonderful photographs. We are so sorry for your loss. Gail and Win Chadwick

I had the privilege of knowing Sally in high school and remember meeting her that very first day of Freshman English class. Her infectious smile and warm heart always made me feel welcome and as a border who was 1,000 miles from home that meant world to me. She was truly a special lady and will be greatly missed by all of those lucky enough to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

She was such a bright, cheerful person. This loss is unimaginable. I remember her at St. Catherine's as little girl. We had to wear dresses and I can see her as a child with her big smile and freckles. And also as a great friend in Upper School, such a fun person. She will be missed by so many. Though I had not seen Sally in a long time, I have wonderful memories of her and the boys from the Haygood days. Her pictures of my kids hang in my home and I think of Sally each time I look at them. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out- I am happy to have the image of her dressed in work out clothes, hair pulled back in a pony tail, running into San Francisco Coffee for a drink before her tennis... always smiling and warm. Love and peace to David John, and Foster. Melissa Greene, Annie and Mitchell (St. Petersburg, FL)

Beautiful smile, gorgeous brown hair, infectious personality, Sally had an aura that made her memorable to all those that she touched. As a boarder from her graduating class of 1988, we will sadly miss one of our truly terrific classmates.
