HARMANSON, Sarah Hutton, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010, in a nursing home in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Jim Harmanson, in 1988. Born in Glade Springs, Va. on February 3, 1916, she spent most of her adult life in Northern Virginia. She graduated from Strayer College, and held numerous positions with the Federal Government, including the Department of Agriculture. She also worked on the formation of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She was a member of Mount Olivet Methodist Church, an avid Bridge player, and traveled frequently with her Art History group. In 2000, she moved to Richmond to be close to her daughters, and was a member of the Brandermill Church. Her devotion to family was a gift to her loved ones. She is survived by her daughters, Betsy Moore and Sally Wallace and husband, Lee Wallace; five grandchildren, Jennifer Moore, Cameron Wallace, Jason Wallace, James Moore, and Kendall Wallace; and great-grandson, Harry Wallace. Sarah is also survived by her friend and caretaker Bettie Simmons. The family is greeting friends on Saturday, January 9, from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at the Arlington Funeral Home, 3901 Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Va. 22203. Graveside services follow at 10 a.m. in Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, Va. 22201. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brandermill Church in memory of Sarah Harmanson, 4500 Millridge Parkway, Midlothian, Va. 23112, or the Parkinson's Association, APDA Richmond Metro Chapter, P. O. Box 70283, Richmond, Va. 23255.

THe family of Margaret Trent (a resident of the Laurels of Bon Air) express their deepest sympathies on the passing of Mrs. Harmanson. We knew her only briefly but she left her sweet smile in our memory. God Bless.
