Virginia GRAMMER Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Nov. 3, 2009.
GRAMMER, Virginia Cox, joined her husband "Rudy", daughter, Patricia Grubbs, and all saints in eternal life on November 1, 2009. She will be sorely missed by her family, Dorothy and Edmond Tyrcha, Betty and Harold Rowland, Gloria and John Robinson, Judy and Gene Thayer Jr., Gene Thayer III, Theresa and Michael Duggan, Sarah and James Layne, Preston and Heather Grubbs, as well as many friends. Virginia cherished time spent with her great-grandchildren, Chase, Joshua, Anne, Andrew and Thomas. She is remembered for her love and devotion to family, friends, and especially St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church at Lake Gaston. Virginia and her husband owned and operated Rudy's Restaurant in Petersburg for more than twenty years. They moved to Lake Gaston when they retired. In recent years, she resided in Chester. Virginia made friends easily, had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. She always made any occasion joyful, from family reunions, Red Hat luncheons to playing the slots in Dover. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A mass in celebration of Virginia's life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Bohemia at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2009. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, P.O. Box 67, Gasburg, Va. 23857 or to Crater Community Hospice at 3916 S. Crater Rd. Petersburg, Va. 23805. Condolences to the family may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

Our sympathy and prayers to all of you on Virginia's death. It is strange that a few days before her death, I came across old photos of a "walk in the country" a group of us took. There is a cute one of Virginia getting ready to be "thrown into a puddle" !!! If you would like a copy, please contact me. Mary (Dice) & Jim Cox
