Virginia DOY Obituary

DOY, Virginia Lee, 87, born July 15, 1922 in Akron, Ohio, died November 18, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Doy; her parents, Louis and Mary Louise Stein; and her brothers, Franklin and Richard Stein. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Doy and Susan Mossem (Dietmar); grandson, Devin Mossem, all of Richmond, Va. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Viola Stein and Niki Stein of Syracuse, N.Y.; nieces, Linda Zimack, Syracuse, N.Y.; Mary Ann Hawley (Bob), Bedford, N.Y.; several grandnieces and a grandnephew; and her special family, Alex, Susan, and Alexis Pittmon, Santa Barbara, Calif. She graduated from Eastwood High School in 1940 and moved to Los Angeles to work as a "riveter" for McDonnell Douglas, and as a parachute line inspector for Cole of California. She was a cashier and bookkeeper for A & P Supermarkets in Syracuse after WW II, where she later volunteered for the ARC and worked the polls during elections. Ginny lived in Santa Barbara, Calif. for 20 years where she volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Bank and took painting classes. She was a generous soul who was a mother to all and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Church Hill home.

Dear Linda Lee and Susan, I was so saddened to hear about the passing of your Mother. She was such a kind and wonderful person to everyone. I know how difficult this must be for you both. You are in my thoughts.

Sue & Linda -Lee,
So sorry to hear about your Moms passing. I used to have a Great time when your parents made the shating rink for you Linda and teaching you to Ice Skate. Those were the days that I enjoyed way back then.
Your parents were very good to me & I will never forget them. My prayers are with you. Please contact me Sue.
