I want to thank everyone for their post on here. And yes I know I miss him alot. I have so many memories of him form all the brick-laying jobs I did with him to all the time at the baseball field and there isnt a day that goes by that when I put on my uniform I dont think about how proud he was of me for joining the army and progressing in the ranks as I have. Everytime I would call him he would always ask me where I was stationed and if I was going to OCS. No matter how many times I tell him I wasnt going to OCS he would never say anything else to me.... I know he is watching over me while I progress in my military career and in some way or another guiding me on the right path so I can be the best soldier just like him. I love you paw-paw. And I miss you alot You are always with me through my journies through life.

Mike and I go back many years. I met Mike when I was in the Richmond Light Infantry Blues as a PFC in the very early ‘60s. Mike was in the Greys at the time.
When I was an E-6 Mike came back to the Blues, as a Captain, he was my Troop (“B”) Commander. I was taking evening classes at the time and wrote a paper on Mike as a manager. As has been said already, Mike was a good manager and leader and a great mentor. I served in the 80th for 20 years after the guard and our paths crossed many times. I was in the Band at JM in the ‘50s and saw Mike at the Corps reunions over the years.
I can only echo the good said of Mike and wish his family the best. We will meet again.

My deepest sympathy is sent to each of you. I truly believe in the phrase “it takes a community to raise a child” and the Marshall family was a big part of my youth. I have wonderful memories of Mr. Marshall, from cheering us on in sports to fun times on Dotson Road. Thank you for sharing your Dad with so many of us. You are all in my prayers. My father (Buck) sends his condolences too.

To the Marshall Family, We are greatful for the wonderful memories granted us through shared time with Mike, Dot, Dick, Dawn and Dianne at the ballfield at Varina High School, watching sons, brothers, fathers and husbands play baseball in the men's league. What wonderful carefree memories, filled with cheers, laughter and fellowship. Mike was an inspriational leader who set the example with knowledge and integrity as he trained and mentored an untold number of both enlisted and commissioned soldiers over his career. We who knew him and looked up to him with great respect will miss him but never forget what he did for us.

My most heartfelt condolences go to the family of “Mike”.
I knew him both in his work for the U.S. Army and through his work with the Va Department of Labor and Industry. We interacted on both levels and it was always a true pleasure to find your loved one involved when starting any task. Even more, “Mike” was an excellent source of wise counsel on many issues involving complex interactions. He could always be counted on for a calm, introspective, and well thought out resolution to many problems.
He was especially effective and delightful to work with in the military setting. His personal assistance with 80th Division NBC School training at our National Guard School was very gratifying to me.
Lastly, Mike was a graduate of “old” John Marshall HS and the Cadet Corps, AND HE KNEW EVERYBODY ! There was almost nothing about the old gang that Mike did not know. His stories were wonderful.
When my time comes to follow Mike through the Pearly Gates, it will be my pleasure to say, “COL. MARSHALL, I AM HERE REPORTING FOR DUTY WITH YOUR UNIT !”
