Clinton S. Ford Sr.

Clinton S. Ford Sr., a WWII Army veteran, earned a Silver Star and Purple Heart, died at home at the age of 82, January 8, 2006. He expressed his bottled up memories on canvas. Mr. Ford, a nationally known folk artist, has had paintings on public exhibition in various venues over the last decade, most recently at the Virginia Historical Society. A Richmond native, he attended John Marshall High School, joined the Richmond Light Infantry Blues as a teenager, and became a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Ford; his brother, Leroy Ford Jr.; and his parents, Leroy and Lelah Ford Sr. He is survived by two sons, Richard L. Traylor and Clinton S. Ford Jr.; one sister, Shirley Brown; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 11 at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A memorial service will be conducted by Ed Macey at the Rockwood Park Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5550 Courthouse Rd., Saturday, January 21, at 2 p.m.
