Richard Alden Cochran, 86, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Sidney, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Largo Medical Center in Largo, Fla.
He was born June 3, 1927 in Danville, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Edith (Roush) Cochran.
On Oct. 21, 1951, he was married to Lois Jean Neal, who preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 1999.
Dick is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Collins) of Clearwater, Fla.; two daughters, Joyce Ann Miller and husband Edward Leslie Jr. of Anna and Tina Marie Lightcap and husband Floyd Drayer Jr. of West Union; four grandchildren, Edward Leslie "Eddie" Miller III and wife Twila, Stacey Michelle Savidge, and Abbey Jo and Ethan Drayer Lightcap; three stepgrandsons, Jonathan Lozano, Christopher and Spencer Collins; four great-grandchildren, Payton Jean Delafuente, Allie Rae, and Gavin and Gabriel Miller; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Christopher Bernardi and Taylor Bernardi; and a cousin Max (Irene) Roush of Hillsboro.
Dick was preceded in death by six siblings, Harold Cochran, Wava Zink, and Dana, Virgil, Betty Jean and Everette Cochran.
While in Sidney, Dick worked for the Welfare Finance Corporation, General Highway Express and the Copeland Corporation, from where he retired in 1990. He was a member of First Christian Church in Sidney and the Sidney Kiwanis and Sidney Moose Lodge. Dick loved to golf, bowl, play cards, horseshoes and shuffleboard. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with Phyllis, his family and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home in Sidney with Floyd Lightcap Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
