Albert "Al" Rumpke

Albert H. "Al" Rumpke, 67, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at his home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1947 in Cincinnati, the son of the late Albert B. and Joan Emma Listermann Rumpke.

Mr. Rumpke retired after 20 years as an independent underground storage tank inspector for the state of Ohio, served as a police officer for the city of Cincinnati for five years, taught environmental science at The Ohio State University, Ohio University and Lincoln Graduate School in Texas, and had been district development manager for Rumpke Waste Management for 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Schneider Rumpke, whom he married Sept. 28, 1968; two sons, Albert (Tina Parrett) Rumpke of Fayetteville and Brian (Sandy) Rumpke of New Market; four grandchildren, Jared, Alexandra, Hannah and Tyler Rumpke; Tina's children, Brad Parrett and Tiffany Mountain; three sisters, Terri (Bob) Richardson, Joan (Ron) Fehr and Tina (David) Minges of Cincinnati; and three brothers, Richard and Joe Rumpke of Cincinnati and Steve (Marge) Rumpke of Camden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Karen Hilton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at St. Mary Catholic Church by Father Mike Paraniuk. Entombment will follow at 2:30 p.m. Monday in St. Mary Cemetery and Mausoleum in Cincinnati. The family invites family and friends to a reception following the Mass until 12:30 p.m. in Father Luehrmann Hall at St. Mary Church.
