James "Jim" Bowman, 63, of Washington C.H., departed this world Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born Aug. 26, 1950, in Hillsboro to James and Gladys (Stout) Bowman.

He had worked as an adjunct professor for the University of Dayton and Wright State University. He was also involved with Habitat for Humanity, Gideon's International, and the Emmaus Ministry.

Jim loved music and worked with church and community choirs at the Winchester CCCU and Heritage Memorial Church. He gave 25 years to working with teens at church camps, retreats, and as a youth leader. He loved singing with the Heritage Worship Team, solos, duets, and with children. He served in many positions at Heritage Memorial Church, but another love was for the Hospitality Ministry. Jim never met a stranger and made all feel welcomed and loved at Heritage.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, Gladys and James Bowman; and a nephew, Stephen Tomlin.

Jim is survived by his wife, Connie (Bailey) Bowman, whom he married July 1, 1978.
