Mark Huff Obituary

LCpl Mark Elliott O'Neal Huff, 21 of Oceanside, Calif., died Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 near Camp Pendleton, California.

He was born July 28, 1996 in Wilmington, the son of Mark and Stacie Williams Huff of Wilmington.

Mark was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church, a 2015 graduate of Wilmington High School where he was active in football, wrestling, track and enjoyed the theatre program. Mark enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on Oct. 6, 2015, attended boot camp at Parris Island on Jan. 18, 2016, and graduated from Parris Island on April 15, 2016. Following boot camp, he attended combat training at Camp Lejeune and later went on to Fort Leonardwood for his MOS training in motor transport, then was assigned to Camp Pendleton in California.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Aaliyah Huff of Wilmington; maternal grandmother, Teresa Williams of Hillsboro; aunts, Karla Williams of Xenia, Rhonda (Randy Sanders) Mottie of Hamilton, Angy Williams and Tia Evans of Hillsboro; two uncles, Steve Williams of Illinois and Matthew Huff of Sabina; girlfriend, Shannon Modin of Oceanside, Calif.; Christian godparents, Grant and Sharon Carter; and a host of great-aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ray Williams; and paternal grandparents, Harold and Christine Huff.

Services with full military honors will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Wilmington High School. Burial will follow in the Sabina Cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the high school.

The Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
