Richard C. Unger Jr., 67, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014 at Adena Greenfield Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Greenville, the son of Richard C. and Dorothy (Pepple) Unger.
He was a lifelong farmer, past Highland County commissioner and Madison Township trustee, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greenfield. He had been awarded the American Farmer Degree, the Ohio Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year, was past president of the Ohio Young Farmers Association, was a 1965 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and attended Ohio State University.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki (Lucas) Unger, whom he married Sept.23, 1967; two sons, Matt (Jodi) Unger and Jason (Leah) Unger, both of Greenfield; one daughter, Holly (James) Williams of De Pere, Wisc.; six grandchildren, Joseph, Lucas, Elana, Katy, Jimmy and Fritz; three stepgrandchildren, Kassidy, Jenna and Megan; one sister, Cheryl Unger Saylor of Leesburg; father, Richard C. Unger Sr. of Greenfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Daryle Unger; and his mother, Dorothy Unger.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at the First United Methodist Church of Greenfield with the Rev. Emory Clark and the Rev. Terry Washburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
