Emily Florence Heflin, 87, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the home of her daughter, with whom she was living.
She was born Nov. 9, 1926 in Matewan, W.Va., the daughter of the late Lawrence and Cella Mann Williams.
She had attended the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. Emily enjoyed singing, adored her husband, and loved her family.
She is survived by her children, Etta Hawthorne of Middletown, Sharon Shephard of Hillsboro, "Chat" (Jackie) Heflin of Trenton, Rachelle Land of Middletown, Margie Lakes of Hillsboro, and "Chat" M. (Delanea) Heflin of Hillsboro; several grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Heflin, on May 2, 2001; daughter, Betty Jo Heflin; son-in-law, Ronnie Bray; two sisters, Opal McCoy and Hazel Craft; and two brothers, John L. Williams and Steven Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. Brother Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the church.
