Lloyd R. "Ron" Turpin, 80, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at his residence.
He was born in Cincinnati on Jan. 11, 1934, the son of the late Lloyd and Thelma (Price) Turpin.
Ron was a 66-year member of the Allensburg Church of Christ, a member of the Hillsboro Chapter 441 OES, Highland Lodge 38 F & AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati where he received the Meritorious Service Award, Kentucky Colonel, retired Sgt. from the Ohio State Patrol, and a member of Highland County Senior Citizens. His hobbies were woodworking, blacksmithing, wood carving, knives and gun making and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Turpin of Hillsboro; sons, Randy (Barbara) Turpin of Proctorville and Allen (Anne) Turpin of Dublin; daughter, Rhonda (Cliff) Weaver of Fayetteville; stepdaughters, Loralee Powell of Burlington, Ky. and Lynne Powell of Granville; brother, Russell (Jackie) Instine of Henderson, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Anthony, Jeremy and Rachel Gauche, Nathan, Allie, Annalise and Alexis Turpin, and Jordan Latham.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday March 31 at the Allensburg Church of Christ with Bob Stevens officiating. Burial will following the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday March 30 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Eastern Star, Masonic and Scottish Rite services to follow.
