Robert E. Cody, son of the late Manrick S. Cody Sr. and Bessie (McDonald) Cody was born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 30, 1942. Robert departed into his Eternal Rest on February 15, 2014. Robert was a graduate of Queens High, Brooklyn, New York. He also attended Brooklyn Community College and Tech Medic Inc. Robert enlisted into the Military (Navy) to serve his country in 1962 to 1966 where he received an Honorable Discharge. He was united in marriage to Sophie Shepherd Cody on August 3, 1965. From this union they had one daughter, Angela Cody Castor, one grandson, Stone "Bubba" Castor. He was a member of Mother Bethel AME Church in Philadelphia for the past 5 years. Prior to that, he was a member of Mt Zion AME in Norristown. He worked for the Naval Yard in Philadelphia before going to worked for Deluxe Check Printers in Paoli for 33 years until his retirement on July 18, 1997. Following retirement, he worked part-time for TransNet as a Bus Monitor. He was a member of many different organizations that he took great pride in, Mt. Pisgah-Tri Lumium Lodge #32 of Norristown, Big Brothers where he was named big Brother of the Year in 1992 and Meals on Wheels. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 49 years Sophie; daughter Angela Cody Castor; grandson, Stone "Bubba" Castor; three brothers Manrick(Ellamae) Cody Jr. and James (Helen) Cody Sr. both of Coatesville, Ronald (Juanita)Cody Sr. of Phoenixville; two sisters, Brenda (Michael) Holland and Jean (Henry) Smith both of Norristown; mother-in-law, Thamazine Shepherd; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and God Child/Niece, Rowena Dixon. He was preceded in death by a sister Helen Cody Johnson. Funeral will be Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Milestone Events, LLC, 600 East Market Street, West Chester, PA; viewing from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. He will be honored by his Masonic Brothers at 2:00 PM. Funeral service at 3:00 PM. Burial Monday, February 24, 2014 at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, PA.
