Thelma W. Clayton of East Norriton passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014, at the age of 91. She was born in Norristown on Sept. 3, 1922. In 1945, she became the wife of David S. Clayton, who preceded her in death in 1990. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Mattie Werkley. Thelma attended the Norristown Schools and was a member of the 1940 graduating class.
Thelma worked for the Bell Telephone Co., Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and the Boyd Horrox Funeral Home. She was a member of the Haws Avenue United Methodist Church and the former Penn Square Community Church. She was a life member of the Norriton Fire Ladies Aux. and the Haws Ave United Methodist Church Women's Group. While living in State College with her daughter, she was an active participant of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Conard and husband Fred of Norristown, and Donna Weller and husband Gene of State College. She was blessed with two granddaughters, Brandy Weller and her, fiance Diehl, of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Melissa Weller and her fiancé, Scott Gordon, of Orlando, Fla. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Evans and Virginia Neal, and one brother, Lloyd Leftwich.
Relatives and friends are invited to share in Thelma's Life Celebration service on Tuesday May 13, from 10 to 10:55 a.m. at Boyd-Horrox of East Norrtion 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
