Claire E. Mohan of Chalfont Claire E. Mohan of Chalfont passed away Tuesday April 22, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family who held her gently in their arms until it was time to let her go. She was 88. Born in Philadelphia, Claire was the daughter of the late John and Claire (Echelmeirer) Jordan and the cherished wife of the late Robert J. Mohan with whom she shared 54 years of true love. She is survived by her loving children William Mohan, Patricia Gallagher, Janice Mohan, Joann Hinkle (David), her devoted daughter in law Kathy Saylor and dear niece Kathi Shetty. Also surviving are her beloved 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Claire is now reunited in heaven with her son, Robert A. Mohan, brothers Jim and Jack Jordan and sister Ria. Claire lived a full and happy life as a Catholic school teacher at Visitation BVM and was the author of 13 religious books for children. At age 58, she was the Villanova University valedictorian. Claire volunteered her time at Graterford Prison as a literary tutor as well as prison ministry at the Bucks County women's prison. Most recently, Claire received the Hall of Fame Award from Little Flower High School for Girls and has been a faithful participant of the St. Jude Church for many years. If you were lucky enough to know her you were drawn to her kindness, her compassion, her beauty, her wisdom and her joy. She spoke quietly but always with intelligence, honesty and humor. The quiet strength and uncomplaining courage with which she confronted her illness was inspirational to all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass 11AM, Monday, April 28 at St. Jude Church, 321 West Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA where her viewing will begin at 10AM Interment will follow at Saint Augustine Cemetery in King of Prussia. In lieu of flowers for her, Claire felt that flowers should celebrate life rather than death so please send flowers from her to someone you love.
