Denise Kasander Obituary
Denise (Boyle) Kasander, 48, of Lansdale passed away Wednesday, November 20, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Denise was the beloved wife of 25 years to Ted Kasander. Born January 12, 1965, Denise was raised in King of Prussia by her loving parents, the late Jack and Dolores (Duffy) Boyle. She graduated Upper Merion High School in 1982, along with Ted, her high school sweetheart. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Gwynedd Mercy College in 1986, with a B.A. in Elementary Education, and later earned a Master's in Education from Cabrini College. Denise taught for more than 25 years, most recently in fourth grade at Shady Grove Elementary in Ambler. Denise was a special teacher who children remember for her loving humor, inspiring personality, and incredible devotion. Denise loved her "family" at St. John's United Church of Christ in Lansdale where she volunteered her time and talents in many ways. She was a proud member of the North Penn Music Aides and reveled in any chance to watch her sons perform with the North Penn Marching Knights. As a senior member of her breast cancer support group, Denise inspired so many with her strong will, sharp wit, and unshakable faith. She was a voracious reader who collected many hundreds of books over the years. She also loved to cook and to go thrift shopping with her sister and nieces. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend. In addition to her husband, Denise leaves behind two sons, Jack, 16, and Ben, 14, both of Lansdale; three brothers, Robert Boyle and his wife, Martha Blackstone, of Cranberry Township; Patrick Boyle and his wife, Cindy, of Mentor, OH; Michael Boyle and his wife, Diane, of Plymouth Meeting; and one sister, Sally Boyle Arney and her husband, Sean, of North Wales. She was also loved dearly by her nephews, Ryan Boyle and Tim Boyle, and her nieces, Melissa (Boyle) Ferrara, Colleen Boyle, Emily Boyle, Erin Arney, Liberty Boyle, Sarah Boyle, and Lauren Arney, as well as 4 grand nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate Denise's life will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 500 W. Main Street, Lansdale on Friday, November 29. Friends and relatives may call starting at 11 am.; the service will follow at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Kasander Family College Fund to benefit Denise's two sons.
