George F. Harrison Sr.

George F. Harrison, Sr., age 86 of West Chester, PA, died April 17, 2013 at Towne Manor East, East Norriton. Husband of the late Evelyn D. (Eckert) Harrison. Born in Norristown, Pa September 18, 1926 son of the late Harold and Caroline (Horvath) Harrison. He was raised in Conshohocken, and when he and his wife were married, they moved to Norristown where he remained until moving to West Chester in 1985. He enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII, served as a Seaman First Class on the USS Laramie, USS Ericson and USS Bache from 1944 to 1946. Over the years he was employed by Lee Tire & Rubber, Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Synthane Taylor, USPS and Norristown Area School District where he worked as a custodian until he retired in 1985. He enjoyed listening to country music (WXTU), oldies rock & roll and following and watching NASCAR. He is survived by his sons, George (Dottie) Harrison, Jr. of Conshohocken, and Kenneth (Mary Ann) Harrison of Plymouth Meeting; daughter, Sandy McClelland of Trooper; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brother, Harold Harrison of Norristown; sister, Ruth Coccia of Birdsboro.
