Larry Nathaniel Harp, was born on the 8th of November, 1953 to the late Mr. Jonathan and Mrs. Lucille Harp of Norristown. Larry, who was also lovingly known as "Poppy". He was called home to his eternal sweet rest on June 27, 2013, God saying to him "well done my good and faithful servant". Larry Harp was educated in the Norristown Public School system where he earned his high school diploma. Larry continued his love for knowledge by attending Penn State University. Larry was an employee of the Norristown State Hospital for 30 years. Because of his hard work ethics, dedication and loyalty, he was selected by his peers to represent them as their union president for six years. Larry's tenacious drive on his job earned him a seat on the Board of Council 88, where he served until his retirement. Larry had a great love of sports, he dedicated countless hours coaching, mentoring, and counseling the youth of Norristown in the fundamentals of football and life lessons. God and family were his top two priorities in life, he demanded family time and gave unwavering love for his family especially to his grandchildren. Larry leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife Patty, son Larry Jr, daughter Natasha, grandchildren Tashianna, Zavier, China, Jahleel, Ja-hmir, Isreal, Dior, Harlem, Zion, and Cayden. His sister, Denise S. Braxton, brother Lamont Harp, son in law John Kennedy, sister in law Kelly Sheriden, one brother in law Kenneth Braxton, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and close friends. Services will be held Friday, July 5 at 10 a.m. with viewing from 8 to 10 a.m. in Ebenezer Church, 234 E. Spruce St, Norristown, PA 19401. The Hon. Bishop Albert N. Jarmon officiates.
