Mark Andrew Buckwalter, age 48, son of Russell (Gail) Buckwalter, Audubon, PA and Sherry Byassee Collins (Peter), Limerick Twp., PA died of a heart attack on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Mission Viejo, CA. Mark grew up in Audubon, surrounded by family and friends. His interest in American History was peaked because family roots have been in Montgomery Co, since before the Revolutionary War. He graduated from Methacton High School in 1983 and joined the U.S. Army. Trained as a medic and stationed at Fort Campbell, KY,he worked in the Psychiatric Unit. This training was the basis for lifelong employment in hospitals. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he served 2 years in the reserves. Mark was an avid reader, enjoying the classics through Far Side calendars. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He loved animals, and always seemed to have 'adopted' a stray cat, which became part of the family! Mark loved the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers. As a youth he participated in track, ice and street hockey, skateboarding and biking and hiking. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #573, Audubon and achieved the rank of Life Scout. He attended Lower Providence Presbyterian Church and participated in summer youth missions, continuing when he was in the Army. Throughout his life, music was his avocation. Through it, he developed friendships with people all over the United States. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Amy Kasopsky (Adam), nephews James and Matthew Kasopsky. Step siblings Wm. Collins, Elizabeth Julik, Peter Collins, Christine Schwegman, Nneka Lopez, David Buckwalter, Sr, Nancy Buckwalter and their sons David, Gary and Todd Buckwalter, their spouses and children; William and Kim Byassee, Hamburg, PA , their children and spouses. A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, May 11, noon, St. Andrews Evangelical Lutheran Church, Audubon PA.
