Aaron L. Carter of Norristown Aaron L. Carter, 66, of Norristown, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Towne Manor West Nursing Home in Norristown. He was born Aug. 8, 1947 in Alexandria, Va., son of the late David K. and Gladys E. (Gray) Carter. He served in the U.S. Army during the
; was a member of the American Legion Post #39 in Norristown; and for many years worked for Local #135 Construction Union in Norristown. Surviving are his wife, Gwendolyn (Handy) Carter, 2 sons, Adam L. Carter (Ikram) and Joel D. Carter, a stepson, Eric L. Handy Sr. (Melonie); 14 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; 3 sisters, Sharon Nelson (Darius), Arlene Durham and Yvonne Durham; 3 brothers, Edward Durham (Elvonia), Paul Carter and Daniel Durham (Lucy); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wallace Carter, Sr. and David Carter, Jr., and a stepson, Byron Handy. Funeral services are going to be held Monday, June 16th at 10 a.m. at the Ebenezer Methodist Church, 234 E. Spruce St., Norristown. Friends may call from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pa.
