Archie E. Rambo Obituary
Archie E. Rambo, 95, husband of 71 years to the late Jean (Ditterline) Rambo, of Audubon, PA. died Friday, February 21, 2014 at Parkhouse Providence Pointe. Born in Port Kennedy, he was the son of the late Jerimiah and Anna (Erwin) Rambo. Archie worked for the B.F. Goodrich Company for 44 years before retiring in 1981. He served as Secretary and International Policy Member of the Local # 281 United Rubber Workers for 25 years. He also served as the Secretary and President of the B.F. Goodrich Retirees and President of the Senior Organization of Active Retirees. Archie served on the first zoning board of adjustment in Lower Providence Township from 1955 to 1961. He also served as Township Supervisor. He served on the board of the Township Park and Recreation Board and on the Township Sewer Authority for 15 years, most of those as secretary. In 1995, he was named the Senior Citizen of the year by the Lower Providence West Norriton Ambuc Organization. Archie called the first meeting to organize the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club, of which he was a lifetime honorary member serving as president and secretary. He was a lifetime honorary member of the Lower Providence Fire Company, lifetime honorary member of Oaks Fire Company, and a member of the Friendship Fire Company in Phoenixville. Archie was a member of the Penmarva Hunting Camp in Center County, a member of the Norristown Retirement Club, and a member of the Facenda Whitaker Bowling League. He was a Little League Coach and also an Assistant Boy Scout Master of Audubon Boy Scouts. When Archie was the Supervisor of Lower Providence Township, he and the two other supervisors in the early 1960's negotiated, with the Montgomery County Commissioners, the lease for the Audubon Athletic Field in Audubon. Archie enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and golf. He is survived by his loving family including a son, Archie C. Rambo, husband of Loraine of Limerick; six grandchildren: Lynda Rambo, Vicki wife of Allen Booz, Andrew and wife Jennifer Rambo, Eric and wife Loreal Maguire, Brian Maguire and Kate wife of Stephen Cusimano; seven great-grandchildren: Adam, Jonathan, Gavin, Jack, Lincoln, Eliza, and Lyla Services will be private.
