Charles A. O'Brien

Charles A. O'Brien, age 90 of Normandy Farms Estates, Blue Bell formerly of Lafayette Hill and Plymouth Meeting, died Friday, January 25, 2013 in the medical wing of Normandy Farms. He was the former President and founder of O'Brien Business Systems, Inc. Mr. O'Brien was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late John and Mary Heelan O'Brien. Husband of the late Catherine "Cass" O'Brien, who died in 1993. Mr. O'Brien was a proud graduate of Saint Thomas More High School in Philadelphia, class of 1940. He was also a graduate of LaSalle College, class of 1949. He attended Temple university Law School and also was in the F.B.I. for four years in 1951. Mr. O'Brien served out country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He coached little league and Biddy Basketball in Whitemarsh Twp. for many years along with CYO baseball. He was a member of Saint Philip Neri Church in Lafayette hill and was a member of Saint Thomas More Alumni Association. For many years he enjoyed traveling with his family to Avalon, NJ and was an avid Phillies fan. He is survived by three sons, Dennis O'Brien of Blue Bell, Kevin O'Brien (Marianne) of Blue Bell, and Michael O'Brien (Maureen) of Lower Gwynedd; six grandchildren, Meghan, Stephen, Jessica, Shannon, Cassie, and Patrick. Preceded in death by his siblings, Jack, Ed, and Helen. Friends may call Thursday, January 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill and Friday, February 1st from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. also at the church with funeral mass following at 10:30. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lower Merion. Contributions may be ade to Saint Philip Neri Church. Funeral arrangements are by the Lownes Funeral Home of Lafayette Hill.
