Obituary Condolences

Darlene Mary (Place) King, a Bridgeport resident and formerly of Swedeland, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 2, 2013 at the residence of her daughter Tracey with her loving family at her side at the age of 74. Mrs. King was employed by Smith-Kline and French Laboratories of Swedeland as a sterile pill filler assembly line worker. She was a former member of Swedeland Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to bingo, crocheting, playing the lottery, listening to Elvis music, and watching baseball and football. Born in Norristown on March 7, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William and Thelma (Bisbing) Place and the wife of the late Robert J. King, Sr. who died May 21, 1997. Surviving is a daughter, Tracey Gallagher, and her husband Mike, of Bridgeport; son, Robert "Robbie" J. King, Jr. and his wife Rachel, of Nebraska; grandchildren, Michael Gallagher, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Christopher Gallagher and his girlfriend Kimberly Martin, Ryan Gallagher and his girlfriend Lynda Shuff, Myles King and Marley King; great grandchildren, Alyssa M. Gallagher, Brandon Gallagher, Christopher Martin and step great grandson, Scottie Hannum; sisters, Amanda Place, of Jeffersonville and Thelma Rathgeber, and her husband Bill, of Doylestown. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dawn Cicala and a brother, William Place. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, March 6, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. from the Bernard S. Gutkowski Funeral Home, Inc. 305 Jefferson St. Swedesburg, Upper Merion Twp. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, West Norriton Twp. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. or on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to The Montgomery Einstein Hospice, 25 W. Fornance St. Norristown, Pa. 19401.
