James J. Neve Obituary
James J. Neve, 92, of Lafayette Hill, died on January 14, 2013 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Sarah R. (Rio) Neve for 72 years. He was born in Conshohocken, PA on July 4, 1920 to the late Ernesto and Maria (Gallaccio) Neve. He attended Conshohocken schools and left school to go to work to support his family. He later entered the US Army during WWII and served with the Company D, 37th Infantry with rank of Private. He received an honorable discharge after being injured in 1944. Mr. Neve worked for John Wood Co. in Conshohocken. In 1936, he started his own business J.J. Neve Coal and Fuel Co. in Conshohocken where he was owner and operator for many years. He expanded the business and established the James J. Neve Iron and Steel Trucking Warehouse and Storage Facility, and the Iron Ore Unloading Facility. Mr. Neve was a devoted member of St. Philip Neri Church, a life member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1182, a life member of the Kiwanis Club of Conshohocken, and a life member of the Navy League Eastern Conference where he served as Vice President, a member of the Board of Directors and in various other capacities. He was honored to represent the year 1920 in the year 2000 Centennial in the Photo of the Century at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Mr. Neve was a unique, hardworking man who was charismatic and his character impacted all who met him. His generosity and kindness were apparent, his drive and determination were his hallmark. He never expected more of anyone than he did of himself. He truly loved his family, his God, and his country. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children James K. Neve and wife Cathy of Lower Gwynedd, Joseph A. Neve of Lafayette Hill, Maria A. Noon and husband Thomas of Royersford, 9 grandchildren James J. Neve II, Carla Durand, Tara Kieffer, Joseph A. Neve Jr., Jonathan J. Neve, Danielle Neve, Sarah E. Noon, Ryan T. Noon, Emily A. Noon, 9 great-grandchildren, a brother Anthony Neve (Doris) of Coventry, PA and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by siblings Johanna "Jenny" Martinelli, Harry G. Neve, Ernest Neve, Konsto "Gus" Neve. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444. The Viewing will be Friday evening from 6:30-9:00 PM at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home, 516 Fayette St., Conshohocken and on Saturday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in James' name to St. Philip Neri Church or , 480 Norristown Rd. #150, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
