Mary Virginia Derrickson, 97, of Huntsville, formerly of Norristown, PA, passed away Saturday at HarborChase of Huntsville. Mrs. Derrickson lived at HarborChase assisted living for over nine years where she received excellent care. Mrs. Derrickson was born in Philadelphia, Pa to Ellsworth Coddington and Jessie M. Heaps Coddington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Derrickson, Sr., who passed away in 1986; and two brothers, Ellsworth and James Coddington. She is survived by her younger sister, Mrs. Vera Lentz and two sons, Robert and James. Mary graduated from St. Patrick's School in Malvern, Pa in 1930. To mark this occasion she was awarded a school medal from the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary loved horseback riding, gardening, tennis, and swimming. During her career, Mrs. Derrickson served as legal secretary first for President Judge William F. Dannehower and later for Judge Robert Tredinnick of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. After her retirement in 1974, Mary resided in Tucson, AZ, Santa Barbara, CA, and Naples, FL before coming to Huntsville in 1988. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow with Father Michael Mac Mahon officiating.
