Obituary Condolences

Monroe W. Long of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL and formerly of Jamison, PA passed away December 2, 2012 just two months shy of his 92nd birthday. Born in Conshohocken, Monroe was the son of the late Robert and Bertha (Berry) Long and the loving husband for 61 years of the late E. Lorraine (Fly) Long. He is survived by his children, Gordon W. Long (Bobbette) and June Kooker. Also surviving are a granddaughter, Deborah Maye (Tim), grandchildren Devon, Valerie and Mason Maye; sister-in-laws Virginia Long and Katherine Zinger and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert L. Long. Monroe was a sergeant in the Army during World War II. He was in the banking industry for 65 years starting at First National Bank of Conshohocken. He then became Chairman of Cheltenham Bank, later Chairman of Independence Bank Corp. and then Chairman of Suburban Community Bank. He was also involved in the community and was a 32nd degree Mason and a Rotarian. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services 12 noon, Thursday, December 13th at Scanlin Funeral Home, 175 East Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA where the visitation will begin at 11 AM.
