Samuel “Vern” E. DiSabatino, Jr.,86, of Spring City, loving husband of Lucy (Boccella) DiSabatino for a short 66 years, passed away Saturday January 28, 2017 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. For the last few recent years, Sam was Lucy’s caregiver and companion, making sure that she had everything she needed twenty-four hours a day. Sam enjoyed a long career as an accomplished musician, bringing his music and unique voice to generations of listeners. He had a sense of humor that kept everyone that knew him laughing at the stories and memories that he recreated for us all. Sam was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Spring City. He also worked for General Electric, Burroughs Corporation, West Company, and Jacobs Aircraft. Sam enters his final venue leaving behind his wife Lucy; three daughters Cheryl Neal wife of Michael of Douglassville, Lisa Satow wife of Kevin of Lusby, MD, and Sandra Epps of Birdsboro; seven grandchildren Matthew, Ryan, Jordan, Jacob, Jared, Justin, and Jayden; two great grandchildren Claudia and Tobias Samuel; and one brother John DiSabatino husband of Carol of San Antonio, TX. Along with his parents, Sam was predeceased by his daughter Mary Ann DiSabatino. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 3640 Schuylkill Rd., Spring City, PA 19475, with Fr. Charles R. O’Hara officiating. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Phoenixville. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00-1:45 PM at the church. Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Samuel’s memory to St. Joseph’s Church at the address listed above.
