Stephen J. Opiela, Jr. age 79 of Conshohocken, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his home with his loving family by his side. Husband of Grace (Renner) Opiela. Born in Manayunk section of Philadelphia, PA on June 8, 1933, he was a son of the late Stephen J. Opiela, Sr. and Stella J. (Daniels) Opiela. Stephen has lived in Conshohocken since 1979, formerly of Manayunk where he was born and raised. He was a member of St. Matthew's RC Church of Conshohocken, Pa, where he was a longtime usher and a former member of St. John the Baptist RC Church and St. Josaphat's RC Church both of Manayunk. He worked as a plumber with his father the with TWA Airlines for 35 years after retiring in 1992 then he worked with MDI for 10 years, and then Nocopi for an additional 10 years both of West Conshohocken. He enjoyed music and also was a musician with the Quarter Notes Band for over 30 years. Stephen & Grace enjoyed going to Rehoboth Beach, DE where they had a home from 1999 to 2009. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by daughters, Eileen Ambler of West Conshohocken, Diane (Bill) Lochard of Ft. Washington, and Denise Opiela (John Collevechio) of Eagleville; son, Stephen J. (Heather) Opiela, III of Reinhold, PA; brother, John Opiela of Roxborough; sisters, Bertha Spahn of Bellmawr, NJ, Florence Hiller of Malvern, and Dolores Muller of Pennsauken, NJ. Also survived by his grandchildren, Brian, Ellen, Jaclyn, Bill, lisa, michael, Emily, Stephen IV, and great grandson, Michael. He was preceeded in death by a brother Edward Opiela, sister Eleanor Nickerson; a son in law Mark W. Ambler as well as a grandson Mark Ambler. His Funeral Mass Funeral will be held on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at 10:30 AM from the St. Matthew's RC Church Third & Fayette Streets, Conshohocken. Clergy: Fr. J. Thomas Heron officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM & Wednesday, November 28th from 9 to 10 AM at the Moore & Snear Funeral Home 300 Fayette Street Conshohocken. Interment St. Matthew's Cemetery, Conshohocken. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Matthew's RC Church, 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
