Tim McCarrick, age 50, died on Sunday December 16, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. Tim courageously battled cancer for 3 years. Born March 30, 1962, Tim was the son of the late William T. McCarrick and Constance Powers Winoski, loving husband of Marybeth (Duffy) and devoted father to daughters, Kathleen and Erin. Tim was raised in King of Prussia and attended Mother of Divine Providence School and Malvern Prep, class of 1980. Tim pursued his love of music at West Chester University where he received his Bachelors Degree. He pursued graduate studies in music theory and composition at West Chester and teaching certification at Immaculate University. Tim was employed as an Orchestra and Music Technology Editor for J. W Pepper for 15 years prior to his death. Tim was previously employed by Albright College as an orchestra and jazz band conductor and by Malvern Preparatory School where he was the inaugural Music Director. Tim's eclectic musical background began at age 5 and includes performance on several string instruments in many musical styles. As a student, Tim was a member of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. Tim later conducted the All Catholic Orchestra where he met fellow music director Marybeth, his loving wife of 18 years. Tim created orchestral arrangements which are being performed by youth orchestras internationally. Tim had a strong connection to his Irish roots and made several trips to Ireland with his family. There he connected with relatives and musicians and made new friends, many of whom he had met through his writings for Irish fiddle publications. He received excellent care at Paoli Cancer Center. Tim also contributed to medical research through his participation in clinical cancer treatment trials at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Fox Chase Cancer Center and the National Institute of Health.
