Carol Zawada Wheeler, age 71, of Gilbertsville, PA, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at her home. She was the wife of Joseph M. "Rusty" Wheeler, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Chicago, IL, she was a daughter of Estelle Swientoniewski Zawada of Winter Garden, FL and the late Edward Zawada. Carol was a graduate of Boca Ciega High School in St. Petersburg, FL. She was a real estate agent for various agencies in the tri county area. She and her husband were members of Brookside Country Club, Pottstown. In earlier years, she was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid tennis player. Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are three sons, Michael J. Wheeler and his wife Diane J. of Boyertown, Timothy W. Wheeler of South Carolina, Patrick M. Wheeler and his wife Joan B. of Eagleville; one brother, Robert Zawada and his wife Eddie of Frederick, PA; two sisters, Judy, wife of Kimbrough Smith of Bloomington, Indiana, Kathy, wife of Robert Smith of Winter Garden, FL; seven grandchildren, Leah Neal and her husband Gary, Dara Ford and her husband Jordan, Ty Wheeler, Dylan Wheeler, Ryley Wheeler, Samuel Wheeler, and Nicholas Wheeler; two great grandchildren, Neslie and Soraya Neal. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her special grandson, Nathan Wheeler. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA (Limerick) Father Paul Brandt will officiate. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will follow in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA. Arrangements are being handled by the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc. of Pottstown.
