Peter F. Pellechia Obituary
Peter F. Pellechia of Norristown Peter F. Pellechia was born October 4, 1929 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He was the Husband of Antoinette (Toni) R. Pellechia (nee Pagano) and son of the late Katherine Pellechia (nee Dieciedue) and Antonio Pellechia. Peter attended Holy Savior School and Rittenhouse Junior High School. He graduated from A.D. Eisenhower High School, Class of 1947. Over the years, he was employed at Alan Wood Steel Company, 7-UP Company, Gordon's of Philadelphia and J&D Hardware. Before retiring, he worked for the Child Development Center and worked with Special Needs children at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit as a Substitute Teacher Assistant. Peter was active in the Cub Pack 290 of Holy Savior as the Catholic Committee Liaison. Peter received the St. George Medal, the highest award given to a lay person in Scouting. Peter was a Veteran of the Korean War and served in Korea from April, 1952 to January, 1953 with the 14th Regimen, 25th Division in the Punchbowl Kumwah Valley and Mundung Ni Valley. He received the United Nations Service Metal with one star, Korean Service Metal with Bronze Service star, National Defense Metal, Combat Infantry Badge and the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War Presidential Ribbon. Peter was a long time member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Norristown. He volunteered at St. Francis for many years braiding Palm and teaching others the art of braiding Palm. He was an avid Gardener who provided family and neighbors with flowers, vegetables and figs. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He served as Treasury Secretary and the Head of Food Committee for the Dieciedue Reunion Group. Peter is survived by his wife of 60 years, Toni Pellechia, his children Mary Ann (Richard) Mazza of Plymouth Meeting, Katherine (Philip) Piazza of West Norriton and Joseph (Jeanne) Pellechia of Ambler, two Grandsons, Dominic and Stephen Piazza, a Brother Vincent (Joanne) Pellechia of Arizona and a Sister, Marie Pellechia of Norristown, and many nieces and nephews. Peter is predeceased by his brother Joseph Pellechia and sister Lena Fuschetto. Relatives and friends are invited to Peter's Life Celebration service on Monday May 19, from 8:30 to 9:50 AM at Boyd-Horrox of East Norriton 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church 600 Hamilton St. Norristown. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
