William Harper Sr. Obituary
William 'Bill' Harper Sr. of East Norriton William "Bill" Harper Sr. passed away at home with his family by his side on May 22, 2014 at age 84. Born in Brockton, MA on July 20, 1929, Bill was the son of the late Janet (Wallace) and Edward Harper. He resided in East Norriton with his beloved wife Frances Ann (Black) Harper who passed away in 1993. Bill was the loving father of Colleen Bailey (Jim), William Harper Jr., W. Gary Harper, Brian Harper (Denise), and stepdaughter Denise Roth (Kerry). He was the cherished grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 12. He is survived by his brother Edward Harper (Donna Jean), and many nieces and nephews and preceded in death by his brother Richard and sister-in-law Ruth. The family wishes to thank everyone from Einstein Montgomery Home Health & Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care for their compassionate care and guidance during this time. Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Abington High School (Mass.) and had a long career in retail shoe sales. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors and was Umpire in Chief of E. Norriton Little League and was a member of the Montco and Bridgeport Umpire Associations. He also umpired many men and women's slow pitch ball games. He always supported and attended his children's and grandchildren's activities and sports events. He was a fan of the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and his beloved Boston Red Sox. Relatives and friends are invited to Bill's Life Celebration at Norriton Presbyterian Church, 608 N. Trooper Rd., Norristown, PA 19403 on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 9-10:30 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill's memory may be made to The Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Ave., Suite 202, Wilmette, IL 60091 or Norriton Presbyterian Church at the above address.
