Mary Monastero Obituary
Mary M. Melchiorre Monastero, 96 years old of Norristown, died peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Phoenixville Hospital.
Mary was the wife of the late Anthony (George) Monastero and the daughter of the late Rose and Peter Melchiorre. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Marie Cilenti (Peter), Roseanne Vernacchio (Anthony) and Rita Tiedemann (Bob). Mary is the proud grandmother of eight and great grandmother of 15, and is the sister of Helen Lowry, Arlene Hamell, Rita Souder, Peter and Vincent Melchiorre and many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Nicholas, Albert, Charles, and Delores Melchiorre Belmonte.
Mary loved to have fun; she loved to dance and eat, especially at Olive Garden and loved to travel. Mary loved to press lady luck playing cards, visiting the casinos and she made the BEST pizza and meatballs. She had worked at CertainTeed and retail for Boscov's for a number of years. Mary held her faith very dear to her heart and was a dedicated parishioner of Holy Saviour Church in Norristown where she volunteered in the women's auxiliary and participated in many programs. To the world you may have just been a mother but to your family you were our world.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Monastero family to remember Mary, celebrate life through faith and pay tribute to a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend on Wednesday morning between 9:30 and 11 a.m. at Visitation BVM Church 196 Trooper Rd. Norristown where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Paul Brandt at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's cemetery, Norristown. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: the 1626 Locust St. Philadelphia, PA 19103 www.cancer.org To share a loving memory, please visit www.lifecelebration.com Family care provided by Boyd-Horrox Life Celebration Home 200 W.
