James "Snuffy" Smith Obituary
James "Snuffy" Smith, 83, of Woxall, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Pennsburg
Manor. He was the husband of Betty (Wright) Smith, to whom he was married for 64 years.
Born Sept. 3, 1930, in Plymouth Meeting, he was the son of the late John J. and Mary Ann (Schaub) Smith.
Mr. Smith was employed as a heavy equipment operator for 40 years with Glasgow Inc., Glenside. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542 for 60 years. He loved working outside and around the house. He enjoyed Nascar and collecting tractors. Mr. Smith was a very devoted and loving husband, father, Pop-Pop, and friend.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Connie Connolly and her husband, Thomas, of Mechanicsburg, Bethanne Rittenhouse and her husband, James, of Perkiomenville, and James Smith Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Harleysville; his grandchildren, Amanda Lubold and Thomas Connolly, Collin, Evan, and Rhett Smith and Jake Rittenhouse; and two great-granddaughters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Tabor United Methodist Church, 2209 Hendricks Station Rd., Harleysville, PA 19438. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call for the viewing on Wednesday, July 2, from 6-8 p.m. at the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., Skippack Pike at Cedars Rd., Skippack, and again on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
