Antoinette M. O'Brien Allen Obituary
Antoinette M. (Toni) O'Brien Allen of Norristown Antoinette M. (Toni) O'Brien Allen, age 91, of Norristown, passed away peacefully at the Peter Becker Community Skilled Nursing Facility, Harleysville, PA on July 8, 2014. Born August 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Nana (Chantry) O'Brien, and wife of the late Robert Francis Allen, who passed away on May 29, 1964. Antoinette was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Norristown, where she was also a member of the Senior Citizens Group. She was a graduate of the former A.D. Eisenhower High School, Class of 1940. She was employed at the Reading Railroad and later at Sears, Roebuck & Co., in both Norristown and St. Davids, PA, retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service as a credit, payroll and human resources specialist. Antoinette was the devoted mother of Constance Coyle (Thomas) of West Norriton, Robert Allen of Lower Providence, Lorie Allen of West Norriton, and Marybeth (Joseph, Mom's special friend) Byrnes of East Norriton. She was a loving "Nan" to her grandchildren Kristine Coyle Rice, Amy Coyle Roche, Robert Byrnes, Shauna Byrnes, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Edward T. and Margaret O'Brien of West Norriton, sister-in-law, Loretta V. Allen of Lower Gwynedd, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothea R. Frantz and Catherine M. Fink. Antoinette enjoyed watching all Philadelphia sports teams. She was also an avid follower of Norristown Area High School events and sports teams, especially those that her children and grandchildren participated in through the years. In addition, she enjoyed many happy times at the Jersey shore; in particular, Ocean City. Special thanks to everyone at the Peter Becker Community; Caring Hospice; Boris Radisic of Einstein Montgomery Home Care; as well as Doris Wertman and Joanne Neery of the Visiting Angels for their unfailing care and concern. Relatives and friends are invited to Antoinette's Life Celebration service on Saturday July 12, 2014 from 9:30-11AM followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Marshall & Buttonwood Sts. in Norristown. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton St, Norristown, PA 19401 or the Peter Becker Community Benevolent Fund, 800 Maple Ave., Harleysville, PA 19438.
