Giovanni Raimo Obituary
Giovanni "John" Raimo of Plymouth Meeting Giovanni "John" Raimo passed away peacefully, on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Einstein Medical Center, with his loving niece by his side. He was 93. Mr. Raimo was a resident of Plymouth Meeting, PA and a member of Holy Saviour Parish. Giovanni was born in Montemarano, Prov. Avellino, Italy on October 4, 1920 and was the son of the late Napoleone and Anunziata (Gambale) Raimo. He attended schools in Italy and was in the Italian Navy. He was married for sixty seven years to his beloved, Letizia "Nennella", who preceded him in death only eights months ago on November 6, 2013. After his marriage on June 8, 1946, he soon moved to live and worked in Genoa, Italy and then immigrated to the United States in March of 1965. Giovanni worked for 20 years as a welder and machinist for the Philadelphia Gear Corp. When not working, he enjoyed traveling all throughout Italy with his wife; their favorite destination being Sasso Maggiore, Italy. Above all else, having no children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews dearly. His time with them was special. Especially family gatherings at the dinner table where he enjoyed eating and his two glasses on red wine. He will be sorely missed by everyone he touched. Giovanni is survived by his devoted brother-in-law, Domenico "Mimmi" Peloro and loving nieces and nephew: Marianna (Frank) DiBenedetto of Collegeville, Letizia (Lenny) Martelli of Plymouth Meeting, Rosario (Angelina) Peloro of Gilbertsville and his great nieces and great nephews, Rosana DiBenedetto (fianc Louis Fox), Lenny, Angela and Marina Martelli, and Domenico, Rosario, and Cristina Peloro. He is also survived by his niece and nephews living in Italy: Carmelina, Napoleone and Potito Marino and Generoso Corso and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Isabella, Matilde, and Maria. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Giovanni's Funeral Mass at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St., Norristown, PA on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Friends may call Thursday from 9:00 - 9: 50 AM, at the church. Entombment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Giovanni's memory to Holy Saviour Church, at the above address. Funeral arrangements are by the Volpe Funeral Home Inc., 707 W.
