Kenneth Slough Obituary

Kenneth Slough Kenneth D. Slough of West Norriton, a retired mechanical engineer from Philadelphia Electric, age 78, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at his daughter's home in Chalfont, PA. Born in Norristown on March 12, 1932, son of the late Ella Mae (Bergey) and Kenneth D. Slough, Sr. He has been living in West Norriton for the last 45 years, formerly of Norristown. Kenneth was a graduate of Penn State University and Drexel University. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 620 and a lifelong member of the Norristown Schwenkfelder Church. He was active as treasurer, moderator and in other capacities. He was instrumental in working out the merger of the Norristown Schwenkfelder Church and Olivet United Church of Christ, Olivet-Schwenkfelder UCC. He served as moderator of the general conference of the Schwenkfelder churches. Ken was a longtime board member and treasurer, and most recent life member of the Perkiomen School Board, an internationally known preparatory school located in Pennsburg. He was post chairman of Meadowood Retirement Facility in Worcester, enjoying the process of seeing Meadowood continue to grow into the facility that it is today. The Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage center was another interest where he devoted his time serving on the board of directors. He is survived by his wife, Lore (Friend) Slough; daughter, Sheryl Mouthaan of Chalfont; son, Kenneth (Diane) Slough of East Coventry; sisters, Elaine Smith of Norristown, and Sandy Christman of Trooper; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Mouthaan, Braden Mouthaan, Rachel Slough, Benjamin Slough, and Rebekah Slough. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 23 at 1 p.m. from the Olivet Schwenkfelder United Church of Christ, 619 Township Line Road, East Norriton with Rev. Leslie Kearney officiating. Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Moore & Snear Funeral Home, 19 E. Germantown Pike, East Norriton. Interment Riverside Cemetery, West Norriton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Olivet Schwenkfelder United Church of Christ, 619 Township Line Road, East Norriton, PA 19401 OR Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, 105 Seminary Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073.
