Obituary Condolences

Eugene McLaughlin, Jr. Father Eugene M. McLaughlin, Jr., died on January 14, 2011, after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 2, 1948 and raised in Norristown, he attended St. Francis Grade School and Bishop Kenrick High School. He worked for several years as a dedicated and talented teacher at Visitation B.V.M. School in Norristown, prior to entering the Seminary in Steubenville, Ohio. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest on May 25, 1985. Eugene ministered in the Steubenville area for many years before moving and living in Wisconsin, North Dakota, New Mexico, and finally in the Phoenix area in Arizona. He resigned from the priesthood in February, 2005 and continued to work for a variety of social service and charitable organizations. He spent his last days in the Hospice of Arizona where he received excellent service and care by a dedicated group of doctors, nurses, and support staff. He is predeceased by his parents: Eugene and Vera McLaughlin; his sister: Kathleen McLaughlin, and his brother: Alfred McLaughlin. He is survived by his brothers: Robert (Kathryn) McLaughlin of Lexington, KY, John (Sandra) McLaughlin of Brigantine, NJ, Joseph McLaughlin of Somers Point, NJ, and Charles (Roseann) McLaughlin of St. Augustine, FL; a sister: Eileen (Ted) Patroni of Ocean City, NJ; a sister in law: Theresa McLaughlin of Perkasie; his paternal aunt and uncle (godmother and godfather): Ruth and Larry Hebdon of Bethlehem; his close and dear friend Roque Montano of Sun City, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Eugene courageously faxed and dealt with a variety of medical maladies and other challenges especially during the last six years of his life. He was a dedicated friend to many and helped others in need when he could. He was a very talented musician and loved playing the piano and organ. His faith was a source of strength and comfort to him, especially his final days. May he rest in peace forever. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 22 at the Visitation B.V.M. Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd, Trooper. Friends may call Saturday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, East Norriton. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Peer Partners (Kids Feeding Kids Memorial), 8 Berkshire Ave., Linewood, NJ or The Paint Lick Family Clinic, PO Box 65, Paint Lick, KY 40461. Arrangements are by the Szpindor Funeral Home, 101 N. Park Ave, Trooper.
