Philip A. Sowers passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Normandy Farm Estates in Blue Bell. He was 88. Mr. Sowers was a resident of Blue Bell and was formerly of Broomall. He worked as an office manager & controller for the former Community Pontiac Auto Dealership in West Chester. Philip was a member of St. Titus Church in W. Norriton, and a former member of St. Pius X Church in Broomall. He was also a member of Habitat for Humanity and the American Legion. Mr. Sowers was a US Navy veteran of WW II, serving from 1943 to 1946 aboard the USS Raven. He was a Fireman First Class in the European Theatre of Operations. Born in Philadelphia, on December 11, 1923, he was a son of the late Philip A. and Elizabeth (Higgins) Sowers. He was the husband of the late Rita J. (Beyer) Sowers, who died in 2004. Surviving is his loving family including a son, Charles P. Sowers and his wife, Roberta M. of Blue Bell; two granddaughters, Kimberly A. Sowers & Christine N. Sowers; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Corcoran and Marie Wood. Philip's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Rd., Broomall, PA 19008 on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 10:00 am. The family will receive relatives & friends Tuesday morning from 9 to 9:50 am, at the church. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Marple Twp., PA.
