Marion T. Nickels

Obituary Condolences

Marion T. Nickels, 85, of Plymouth Meeting received her angel wings on August 18, 2013 and went to her heavenly home surrounded by her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchild, son in law, daughter in law, her dear friend Carrie and the many friends she called family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George J. Nickels. Born on November 5, 1927 in South Philadelphia, Marion was the daughter of the late Theresa (Rooney) and Charles McWilliams. She was the eleventh of twelve children who grew up in a loving and close-knit family during the Great Depression. She is survived by her youngest sister Patsy Wade of Kentfield, CA and predeceased by her adoring brothers, Thomas, Charles, Eddie, Jack, Jimmy "Kingfish", Francis and Joe; her dear sister and best friend Agnes Brown, and sisters Florence Widener and Dorothy Sweeney. The world is a richer place because of her abundant love, generosity, kindness and devotion to her family and especially her unwavering faith in the Blessed Mother, Saint Therese of the Little Flower and Saint Padre Pio from whom she received many graces including the "gift of perfume". Her family was her life and she was very proud of everyone's endeavors no matter how big or small. She loved unconditionally. Marion never worried about the future and put her trust in God. It was just months after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in her bones that her contagious laugh and sense of humor won her a starring role on America's Funniest Videos. Marion is survived by five children, George J. Nickels of East Norriton, Robert C. Nickels (Kenn Smith) of Palm Springs, CA, Janet A. Jones and her husband, Richard, of Plymouth Meeting, Carolyn Nickels of Plymouth Meeting, and Marilyn Dougherty and her husband, David, of Plymouth Meeting; five grandchildren Jennifer Nickels, George Nickels, Richard Jones, Kristin Jones (Fianc, Dave Ronca), and Colleen (Dougherty) Clark and husband Craig, and one great-grandchild Andrew. She was delighted to know that her family would welcome another great grandchild in March. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Nickels was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary who died at birth. Marion's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, 3050 Walton Rd., Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462, where friends may greet the family after 9:30 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marion's memory to the children of Wordsworth. Wordsworth is located at 3905 Ford Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19131. Please direct to the attention of Jennifer Nickels. www.huffandlakjer.com
