Paul F. McTamney Obituary
Paul F. McTamney, age 93 of Conshohocken, died Monday, October 28, 2013 in Einstein Montgomery Hospital Hospice of East Norriton. Husband of the late Anna May (Beecher) McTamney. Born in West Conshohocken, Pa on February 24, 1920, son of the late Mary (Brady) and John McTamney. Paul has lived in Conshohocken since 1970, formerly of West Conshohocken where he was born and raised. He was a member of St. Matthew's RC Church of Conshohocken. He was a US Coast Guard Veteran of World War II, where he received Navy Combat Action Ribbon, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat V device, Navy Combat Action Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic - Pacific Campaign Medal with One Silver & 3 Bronze Stars to denote 9 campaigns, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon & Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He worked as a steel worker with Alan Wood Steel and then with Stenton Arms for 10 years before retiring. He was a member of CBC and TK Clubs of Conshohocken, he was an avid golfer and often shot his age playing up to age 91, he won the seniors and Super Seniors at Skippack Golf Club where he was a member He is survived by daughters, Pat McTamney of Conshohocken, Joyce (& Jack ) Banas of Saylorsburg, PA, and Annamay (& Patrick) McGarvey of West Conshohocken; brother, Donald Brady of Conshohocken. Also survived by 3 grandchildren Mark, Sharon, & Stephanie and 6 great grandchildren, & a great great grandson Along with his wife and parents he was preseded in death by a son Paul W. McTamney, 2 brothers Jack & Billy McTamney and 2 sisters Marie Farrell, & Betty McPherson. His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday October 31, 2013 at 10:30 AM from the St. Matthew's RC Church Third & Fayette Streets, Conshohocken. Clergy: Fr. J. Thomas Heron officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM at the Church. Interment St. Matthew's Cemetery, Conshohocken.
